CONSULTATION AND COMMUNICATION

Since identifying the area as a potential tidal energy site, DPME has consulted widely with stakeholders and local interests. The breakdown of consultation elements was carried out as follows:

2012  Major project review with Marine Scotland, SNH and RSPB. In addition, project update presentations were made to Islay Community Council and East Kintyre Community Council.
Sept 12 Information day displays at Bowmore, Portnahaven and Port Ellen and presentation to the Argyll and Bute Renewables Alliance (ABRA).
Nov 12 Consultation with fishermen
Feb 13 Consultation with fishermen
Feb 13 Completion of geophysical surveys (site and west cable route)
Apr 13 Final open day displays showing survey results and design details of the project prior to submitting an application for consent for the marine element only.
2013 Consultation as required to clarify and resolve issues with stakeholder and Marine Scotland.
